NEMA to IP(IEC) Rating Comparisons
NEMA enclosure ratings are developed by NEMA and used in the U.S./American market.
International Protection (IP) – classifications are developed by the European Committee for Electro Technical Standardization (described IEC/EN 60529), and specifies the environmental protection and enclosure provided.
The following table can be used to convert NEMA ratings to IP classifications.
NEMA ratings exceed IP ratings and therefore, this chart can only be used to convert NEMA to IP, but not IP to NEMA. IP is a European standard for dust and moisture protection.
